You can't miss it.
I picked up our daughter, Maggie, from Ohio State on Tuesday after she wrapped her last final and her junior year. It was the usual stop and go. Almost faster than a Max Verstappen pit stop. I had the car barely in park and she was already steps away from the car. She saw me coming on an app my family shares. Well, at least we know where Maggie and I are.
After a few turns and lights, we were heading south on I-71 and starting our journey home. We passed by an exit that was for Morse road. I told Maggie about how I was 17 when I drove down to see my brother Pat for the first time by myself. I wrote the directions down on a piece of paper.
It went something like this:
Go about 2 to 2-1/2 hours south on 71 until mile marker 115.
Get off at the Morse road exit and go right.
3 streets take a right on Kinawa.
Go about half a mile. My house is on the left. Number 5555.
You can’t miss it.
The classic “you can’t miss it”. The usual finale to directions given when I was younger. “We have a basketball hoop and there will be a red car in the driveway”. Were the directions to my house growing up. No guarantee that the red car will still be there when your guest arrives. You can’t miss it. You usually missed it.
After I explained this to Maggie she replied that she may need a few more details. “I am not sure that would work for me.” In a few days I will be 55 and I am not sure that will work for me either. I am locked into my Google maps.
Mr Cavoli
We had an unfortunate event happen this past week. My son, Aaron, high school Latin teacher, Mr Cavoli, passed away this past week. He was such a monumental influence in our son’s life. Aaron took film at St Edward and he made a documentary about Mr Cavoli and here it is.
Meatless Eats
I guess I better include some sort of food related item in this post. Last March I experimented with a six recipe ebook. I wanted to see what it was like putting one together. I am not sure if a self-published cookbook is in my future, but you never know. Please let me know what you think. If you like it, please share it with your friends and family. Along with my Substack.
